Phantom bot autopurge list4/5/2023 ![]() ![]() They also have a solid motive for going to botted subs with little moderation, which they explained that they want to try to post more content there to outweigh the bots because they can offer engagement about the subjects unlike the bots, which is a crucial part of a healthy sub. ![]() Anything they have dredged up is so old that I can’t see it being a repeat. If they have a bot or algorithm set up to do this or find content, then I don’t really care because if they wanted to scam people they have more than enough karma at this point to do so, and if they wanted to, they’d have done so already, and all of their comments to me seem human made. There are a plethora of comments thanking them for posting quality content. In my mind, they are absolutely a terminally reddit addicted human. ![]() It’s not a 24 hour stream, and while sure, you could limit how much a bot posts, the intervals and amount of interaction are very human. They go out of their way to call out other bots, and bring proof. I strongly disagree that the comments any of the comments chat bot level, or at least any more so than any other real comment, I have had several in-depth conversations with them through comments and mod mail, so at the very least, it is a bot constantly managed by a human. Sorry for posting this comment a second time, I edited this quite a bit, should’ve have held off on posting it. I had not known them to do so until now, so if anyone cares, be suspect of those as well now. Please continue to keep an eye out for them.Įdit: Jan 31st, I just found a UAE bot that started making cross-posts. Sorry for the inconvenience, I hope you understand.įinally, thank those of you who helped to combat bots in whatever way you could. With that, I have been added as a mod and hope to clean up the sub. U/blueponies1 put in a request to Reddit to remove the inactive head mod and gain full permissions. Bots figured this out and started farming this sub. Those two other mods did not have time to really pay attention to the sub (which is understandable) and didn't have the permissions to add more moderators. One was the head mod with all the permissions who was completely inactive there were two other mods, u/blueponies1 and u/Clawsonflakes, who had some permissions and finally, a repost-detecting bot that has been dead for years. You still are probably going to see some bot posts here and there, but hopefully less and less over these next few days. + I figured a sub with nearly 1M users could use an icon and banner, so I took a couple of hours to throw together one in Adobe Illustrator (Feedback is appreciated) If you have proof, you are welcome to challenge me on that. They may apparently repost things sometimes, but as far as I can tell, they aren not one and actually put a fair amount of effort into calling out bots. I see a decent amount of reports calling u/KimCureAll a bot. + Crossposts now automatically get the "Crosspost" flair (this change has nothing to do with bots, but somebody asked for it and I see no reason why not) + A minimum of 50 comment karma is now needed for posts. The minimum account age for posts is up from 15 days to 25. + u/DuplicateDestroyer has been added as a mod to help a tiny bit with reposts. + u/EchoOutrageous9165 has been added as a mod If you have any other bots you'd like to be approved, feel free to suggest them those were just the useful/harmless ones I could think of. U/spartan2470 (not even really a bot, but they are on the bot rankings list) (These last three aren't banned by u/botdefense as far as I know, but just in case) U/stabbot (stabilizes videos, it’s quite helpful) However, bot accounts can be whitelisted. U/botdefense also removes most bot comments/bots by default, including ones from some useful and fun bot accounts. If a bot manages to slip through and you want to go the extra mile beyond reporting it on this sub, check to see if it has a pending review post on r/botdefense. It should hopefully help a considerable amount, but know that it is far from perfect. U/botdefense is an auto-moderation bot that uses a crowd-sourced, manually reviewed list of bots. U/blueponies1 has added me as a mod, and in turn, I have added u/botdefense and started purging bots. Changes made after this was posted are denoted with a '+' ![]()
